    Sorry, I’m not used to Imgur. Hope this works:

    Hi Felipe,

    Here’s the screen shot:

    <script async src=”//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

    I’d like to get rid of that like bit text ‘Search For’ that sits over the search box.

    Thanks, Andy.

    Many thanks! That almost did the trick. I still need to get rid of the ‘Search For’ text just above the box.

    Thanks, but the article doesn’t talk about how to customise a widget. I know how to install a widget, place it in a sidebar and all that. I just want to change the appearance of a widget.

    Hi Photocrati,

    I’ve had the ‘Tables could not be created’ problem for about a year now. Haven’t found a solution yet.

    I logged into my c-panel and located my wp-config.php file which I’m told is my database file. There I changed permissions to:
    USER – Read, Write, Execute
    GROUP – Read, Write,
    WORLD – Read.

    Is that right? What aren’t I doing right?

    Some help would be appreciated. Tx.

    I’m using WORDPRESS 4.7.2 and NextGEN Pro 2.3.63

    Thanks so much for your help kafleg. I find it incredible that a current wordpress theme doesn’t have an easy way of placing social icons on the home page in a prominent way. I know that you can get a plugin like Header & Footer, and place code in the header. But I haven’t got the skills with code to put the social icons precisely where I want them to be. Looks like I’m going to have to spend money on paying a developer to do that. Meanwhile, if there’s anybody out there who has any other suggestions, I’d be very grateful for them. Thanks,

    Thansk Kafleg. Most of the social plugins I’ve found are widget plugins, and as far as I can see there isn’t a widget ‘space’ that’s clearly visible on the home page of the Hatch theme. As I said, I don’t want to put my social icons in the footer. So if you have any suggestions for a social plugin that doesn’t need to go in a sidebar, then I”d be very grateful.
    Thanks

    Thanks for that. The code I have for the tweet button is this:

    $alignment = $this->tw_get_option(‘tw_align’);
    if ($alignment!=’none’ && $this->tw_get_option(‘tw_align’)!=null && $alignment!=”){
    if ($alignment==’right’) $alignstr = ‘;float:right;margin-left:10px;’;
    if ($alignment==’left’) $alignstr = ‘;float:left;margin-right:10px;’;
    if ($alignment==’center’) $alignstr = ‘;float:none;margin:0 auto;text-align:center;’;

    The code I have for the Facebook button is:

    add_option(‘fblike_style’, ‘float: right; margin-left: 10px;’);

    So what should I just to make the two buttons just sit next to each other on the same line, rather than on top of each as they are at the moment: link to page

    Thanks in advance…

    Thanks Matt,
    Your plug in will is valuable. However, I can’t believe that there isn’t a solid solution to let wordpress users automatically update their social networks when they post an article / blog. It’s too valuable a tool. If Hootsuite get their skates on and allow self-hosted sites to join in their system, then that might provide the solution. But whoever does it, it’s sorely needed.
    Thanks for everything,
    Andy.

    Thanks Matt, thanks a lot. Your plug in does look great and I’ve just installed it. But I did a test ping from ping.fm and it didn’t register on my WordPress site. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong.

    But that aside, my biggest question is: if your plug in works, will it allow me to post something in WordPress and have ping.fm deliver that AUTOMATICALLY to Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin etc? That’s what I’m looking for. Posting status update in ping.fm and having them distributed is less important. Basically, I want my Facebook friends and Twitter followers etc to know when I’ve posted a new article on my blog.

    Thanks for everything. Andy.

    Actually, I’ve been searching and searching for a simple plugin / widget that collects subscribers e-mails and delivers them to you as a CSV or tab delimited list, or something like that. No Paid bulk mailing service tie-in, no integrated newsletter creation system…just the emails! Does anybody know of such a thing?
    Tx, Andy.
