Tried again per your suggestion, jvinch, but still got rejected. I’ve put in a support ticket at Akismet, too, but no reply yet.

What do you think about deleting and reinstalling Akismet. Or, can that be done since it comes pre-installed? (I’m not great on technical stuff.) I’ve already tried deactivating and reactivating it.

Thank you, but I don’t think that is the solution. As I stated above, I tried both manual and cut and paste, and at least in the case of the manual entry, I doubt that I put any extra spaces.

I’ve tried again several times since I originally posted, as somewhere I saw a suggestion to wait a while and try again, but nothing has changed.

I’ll go back now and try again, making sure that no extra spaces are entered. Thanks again for your help.

@whooami: I think you are probably right, thanks.
@figaro: particularly since you agree:) And thanks for the link.

@both of you, I’m just trying to make sure my files are correctly backed up before taking on the upgrade to 7.2. Thanks so much for your help.

I probably didn’t ask the question correctly. FYI the files look the same in both full and partial backups.

However, what I need to know is if my backup files content should look like what I posted above or whether they should be readable in English.

Hope this clears the question up. 🙂

Sorry, I don’t see how to edit my above post.
I should have mentioned that I use Vista OS.

Thank you for your help/response, whooami andRovick. I appreciate it.

May I join this thread, please? My problem is almost the same.

I had a website by the same name as my blog already in public.html, but I want to abandon it and have a blog only, i.e., I don’t want my blog in a subdirectory.
After uploading WP, much to my astonishment when I checked after uploading WP, that website (of one page only) came up.

If I now upload a theme of my choice, will I be able to override the existing file in favor of the WP theme? If not, how should I proceed? I’m trying to avoid trouble by doing it right the first time.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
