Sad I never heard back from the owner of the plugin. Such a great plugin with such a poor support…
Though, I managed to find a fix. The issue was caused because of the following line in my CSS:
-webkit-appearance: none;
I removed it and now the checkboxes are working in Chrome and in all the rest browsers.
