    Steve said:

“When you uploaded the new version maybe you did it over FTP? For some reason I’m guessing all your files were not replaced so some files from an earlier version were there. I can’t certain why it happened, but I re-nstalled the theme by uploading the zip file though the admin interface and everything worked as expected.”

I also uploaded using the admin interface. However, it now works, and that’s what matters.

I know how to create a menu with sub-menu items.

On the Menu page of your dashboard on the test site does it say, “Your theme supports 1 menu. Select the menu you would like to use.”?

On my site the words say “Your current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the ‘Custom Menu’ widgit to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.”

I think my installed version of WP 3.0.4 does not recognize the support provided in my installed WPFolio 1.6.56.

The theme author, Steve Lambert, said he would look at it.

Govpatel, you have no sub-menu items at http://govpatel.com.
I can create a custom menu as you have done. What I can not do is have sub-menu items appear in a drop-down list. This is what WP 3.0 is supposed to do. The title of this post is “Sub-menu items are displayed as menu items.”

Could you please add some sub-menu items on http://govpatel.com and see if they appear in a drop-down list?

The menu I created looks like this:

    Home
    Fine Art
    (Indented) Abstract
    (Indented) Figurative
    (Indented) Landscape
    Photography
    Artist Statement
    About the Artist
    Exhibitions
    Links
    Buy
    Contact

Here is how the menu appears on the website:

Abstract Figurative Landscape HOME Fine Art Photography Artist statement About the Artist Exhibitions Links Buy Contact

Let me say again that the message in the Theme Locations box says that “The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.”

That means to me that WP has not acknowledged that WPFolio 1.6.56 is now supporting menus.

I also installed a “fresh one” yesterday. My WP site clearly states that my current theme is “WPFolio 1.6.56 by Steve Lambert & many others”.

Where can we go from here?

The pages are refreshed. I am not displaying cached pages.

I installed WPFolio 1.6.56 which is supposed to support WP 3.0 menus. However on the Menu Page, under Theme Locations, it still says: “The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.”

Do I need a different version of 1.6.56? How do I get it to support 3.0 Menus?

I discovered today in the WPFolio Manual that “WPFolio 1.6 uses the new custom menu features of WordPress 3.0 that allow you to have beautiful custom, drop-down menus.”

I have 1.5.2.1. Version 1.6 is in Beta testing. Upgrading should do the trick.

    Are you using IE 8.0.6001.18702?

    Ellie,

I got it! When I displayed the posts in FireFox everything was fine so the problem was with IE. I had set the IE View- text size to “Larger”. Switching it to “Medium” resolved the problem. So simple! Thanks for mentioning FF. It led to the solution.

Thanks for your patience in working through this.

    Ellie,

    Thanks for reading my blog!

Few of my artist readers have skills to make CSS changes and I agree they may be limited to basic design templates. Some of those basic templates can produce a pretty snazzy art site.

My technical skills are limited too, but I was able to create this blog. This is the first issue I have encoutered in 10 months.

In no post is the title centered. The title **begins** in the centre and then spills to the next line.

When I work my way backward in time I find the following posts titles:

Take Control of Your Website (starts in the middle and spills into 2 lines- not what I wanted)

I’d Like AdWord With You (starts in the middle and spills into 2 lines- not what I wanted)

Does Facebook Own Your Images? (Left-justified as planned)

The Fuzzy World of Search Engines (starts in the middle and spills into 2 lines- not what I wanted)

It’s New and Free (Left-justified as planned)

All the rest of the previous posts are left-justified as planned.

Is the CSS is used to dynamically format every post in the blog? The post title on most of my posts is fine, and off on a couple only, including the current one. If the answer to the question is “yes”, then changing the CSS should affect every post, including the ones that are fine.

I am not aware of anything that I have done that would change the CSS and the title positioning for my posts.

Sorry, I have not taken CSS 101!

Thanks, Ellie for the quick response. I’m not a programmer, but I did look at the HTML code on that page to see the ‘narrowcolumn’ you refered to. However, I have no idea what change would be necessary to the HTML and I am reluctant to make any changes in case I mess it up.

Is there some change I can make in the Post Editor to effect the change I want?
