Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Could not create directory. Theme install failed. No, I haven’t asked my hosts, since I can connect to my server with Cyrberduck and Dreamweaver. (And WordPress, until about 2 days ago…) I’ll guess I’ll just leave it the way it is and not change or update any themes. I can update WordPress by downloading the update and ftping it up, it’s just kind of a pain!
Thanks for your help, esmi!

In reply to: Could not create directory. Theme install failed.Ok, when I delete the whole line from the config file, I am able to enter whatever I want when I need to enter host name, etc, but nothing I enter works. Same error.

In reply to: Could not create directory. Theme install failed. No, what I saw in the file originally was (‘FTP_HOST’, ‘localhost’), then I tried some other things.
I haven’t tried deleting the ftp line completely. I’ll try that this evening when I’m back at my own computer. But I did try (‘FTP_HOST’, ”).
Then there was indeed a blank space for ftp hostname when I tried to install an update, but it was a locked blank space and I couldn’t type anything into it.Thanks.

In reply to: Could not create directory. Theme install failed.I followed the instructions in this post:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-unable-to-access-ftp-for-plugins-and-themes
I found, in the config file, where the ftp host was listed as ‘localhost.’ I tried changing to 0061a9d.netsolhost.com, http://ftp.0061a9d.netsolhost.com, ftp://0061a9d.netsolhost.com. None of those worked.
Although, the ‘localhost’ setting did seem to allow me to logon, then fail, and those other things I entered prevented any connection at all.
Thanks for your help!
