    Thanks for the suggestions, but this is quite a bit of detour and it is not going to work for my own setup here since I set up my server on a linux box. My work desktop does not have internet connection, except http which is tunnel through ssh. I also am not interested in running additional server apps on my desktop.

    What I want is an internal solution which lets me access my wordpress site through multiple networks. My server is Linux and I would like to keep everything on the same machine. It should be a uniform solution without site and server duplication if you will.

    I can duplicate the wp site and do it that (the second copy will use local lan address) way but as far as I see the wp url is part of the database so that idea wont work much unless I duplicate the database. Or not?

    I am kind of stunned that Wp hardcodes the site address like that.
