@onerock: yup, that’s what works for me.
I have the same issue, but it’s to do with the general settings.
You can get the sort option back by doing the following.
In the Nextgen menu go to: Other Options
Under “Image options” you can select your default sorting option at “What’s the default sorting method?”.With me, selecting the option “Custom” will bring back the sort button at the gallery itself. Selecting any other option here, and the button disappears again.
I had a similar problem. With me it was down to file size. Anything larger than 6.2 Mb won’t upload. It gets worse when I have other plugins active on my site (with all original plugins running I could only upload images up to 3 Mb).
I work around it now by uploading through FTP and letting nextgen find the images in the folder.Not ideal, but it works…
