James, this is SO helpful. Thank you so much for the details. It gives me hope i can get it fixed. I’ll work on it this weekend and will let you know.
Thank you!Hi!
I haven’t tried that yet. I’m hesitant. This is where I do one single thing and break 10 other things.
I did go into my WordPress General Settings and I see the WordPress Address has the prefix URL. The Site Address also uses the prefix URL. And in my WP Engine Server it’s using the non-prefix URL.I recently switched to WP Engine and the developer helping me initially set up the prefixed URL and everything broke for a few minutes until he changed it back.
I’m wondering if because my Prefix URL is being used in WordPress as my Site address, that’s why G Site Kit it using that. I can’t change it though – I just read up on changing the Site URL and that sounded bad.
I might be stuck.
Hi James!
The link brought me to one Property to select that being the non-url prefix (the https:// wasn’t an option).
The nonurl prefix (afoodloverslife.com) is verfied.
It says it’s verfied by DNS TXT records. Is that enough to be ‘fully’ verified? And I wonder why the prefix URL property wasn’t there.
hmm
I just reset Site Kit.
It automatically selects the prefix URL https:// and doesn’t allow me to select the main domain property. (nor does it show it’s an option).
Hmmm
Will do.
This link below is fairly recent and pertains to Console allowing Associations with other domain type properties.
It’s not a solution to G Site Kit but just general info you might find handy (probably already know it).https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2021/02/search-console-associations
Hi James,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I’m not sure how I went about creating 2 Properties in Console but I managed it somehow. Ugh.
I believe it was a few years ago when moving from http to https and although I already had originally set up the Main Domain (no prefix URL) I somehow set up a 2nd one – probably by accident – that being the prefix URL https://
Verification wasn’t an issue for either, if I remember correctly.
I scouted around google and found other people have done the same thing, unfortunately.I appreciate your suggestions! I’ll definitely work on this. Ideally I would have just one Console Property, however I’m not sure what all the ramifications would be to remove one of them. I’m that person that changes 1 thing and creates 10 other problems.
I’ll be back in touch once I reset Site Kit. I’ll start there then will move on to your other suggestions if that doesn’t work.
Thank you!
Sara
