@anevins – we we’re clearly doing the same thing at the same time. But yes, you figured me out in the end.
Okay. So I’ve now installed Chrome on my iMac. I booted up the website theguvnor.commedia.uk and it look fantastic.
The problem was with Safari. I did a little clicking and for some reason – and I have NO idea why – there was a default setting for the page which said ‘View this page at 150%’ I deselected it an ‘Hey Presto!’ everything was fine.
So, what have we learnt from this:
1. I’m a moron.
2. WordPress is still lovely.
3. My website looks equally stunning on four different browsers and three different devices (honestly, check it out).
4. That even a dweeb who doesn’t know how to set his browser preferences properly is able to create a slick looking professional website on WordPress even though he isn’t a slick looking professional.
5. @anevins is incredibly patient and now has one less idiot to deal with. 🙂Right. Fine on Firefox, Chrome and Explorer. Still too big on Safari.

I uploaded the site at work and it was fine.
I’m beginning to think it might be the cache files but I’ve already flushed them out once before. I’m going to try logging out of wordpress completely, flushing the cache and then loading the site in a) Firefox b) Safari without my WordPress login.
As I preview the site on my desktop the main GUVNOR image appears cropped with only “The GUVN” showing across the centre of the image. If I shrink or expand the viewing window the image scales accordingly but still in the over cropped form. In the original image, and before I updated it like for like (format and size) the whole title “The GUVNOR” was visible. Perhaps this is just on my screen?
