In reply to: installation issuesAccording to a WHOIS check that I just did, easymedicinelinks.com is not registered anywhere with a Domain Registrar, which means that it is available for anyone to register, and that you have not.
This information may be slightly out of date, so you need to mention if you have registered it in the last few hours.

In reply to: I keep getting ERROR when I try to installIn addition, many people get confused about the meaning of “Username” and “Password”. This is a Username and Password defined to access the Database, NOT the Control Panel (hosting company) user/password or the WordPress user/password.
Again, talking to your hosting company is your best bet to sort that out.

In reply to: configuration problem“When your domain name or URLs change there are additional concerns. The files and database can be moved, however references to the old domain name or location will remain in the database, and that can cause issues with links or theme display.” at this bookmark: https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Changing_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs where it explains what to do about it.
I am assuming that your original install had Site URL set to localhost.

In reply to: Absolute novice, bit stuck with WP installationI cannot verify this without knowing your chosen domain name, or getting my own hostgator account, but many/most web hosts give you a dummy index.html file that prevents WordPress from being “seen” because WordPress uses index.php which is normally given lower priority than index.html.
Quick fix: look for a file in the root of your web site at hostgator called index.html or home.html or .htm, etc. and rename it to originalindex.html.
