    Thanks, Mike:
    You continue to be “the man.”

    Well, hell, Mike.
    I did the <!– –> FAQ fix, and now I have about a 50px gap in the border where the title used to be.

    DAMN!
    I do apologize for wasting your time, Mike.
    I’m just in too big of a %#$@&%! hurry.
    I totally overlooked that on several trips through the settings page.

    OK, Mike:
    Same problem as always: The #@$%$#@ site is not live online; it’s on a WAMP localhost setup.

    I used Firebug to find this code for the form, and when I rem out the <legend>Contact Form</legend> code highlighted below in bold, the title goes away, which is what I want, but I can’t find this html in the form php files. Can you tell me which one is it in?

    </span>

    <div style=”width: 625px;”>
    <form id=”si_contact_form1″ method=”post” action=”http://localhost/wordpress/contact/#FSContact1″&gt;
    <fieldset style=”border: 1px solid rgb(68, 68, 68); padding: 10px;”>
    <legend>Contact Form</legend>
    <div style=”padding-left: 146px; text-align: left; font-size: 12px;”>

    Well, Mike, I have the same problem as I did last time:
    The site is not live online; it’s on a WAMP localhost setup.

    However, I do appreciate the offer.

    Also, the site I have the form in is fixed width, so maybe the absolute positioning won’t be a problem across IE. Although, this is all Greek to me, so I don’t know.

    Maybe when I get it online the rubber will meet the road on that issue.

    I switched over to the twenty ten wordpress theme, then repositioned the small captcha thingy using absolute positioning to get it out from between the message area and the captcha input field.

    Works fine in IE9. I’m affraid to test it in any of the other IE P’sOS.

    I solved this problem for the moment.
    Basically, I had
    #access ul ul {}
    remmed out.

    I put it back in, and the drop-down reappeared.
    I don’t have a clue, as menus are foreign to me.

    However, I still have an issue with the 5px of space below the background image. I solved it temporarily by changing the height attribute in
    #access ul ul a {}
    from “auto” to 10px.

    Whatever.

    I’d still like to hear any input anyone has on this 5px thingy.

    WOW!
    MY GOODNESS, Sweeper.
    There’ll be a little something extra in your check next week.
    Thank you so much!

    Thanks, Mike:

    Don’t know when the site will go up.
    I’ll check out the link you sent.

    Short of that, I’ll either go with it as is or move on to another form.

    I appreciate your time.

    Thanks, Mike:
    After reading your reply I looked around in the css and found the textarea setting. Changed that and the message area is good now.

    However, now the Small Captcha Div is between the message block and the captcha title and input field. I want it to the right side of them. I’m workin’ on this to no avail.

    I understand that it’s difficult for you to know what’s goin’ on without seeing the page, so:

    How do you see the page if it’s on a localhost WAMP setup on my machine?

    Can I do a page screenshot and post it here—can I do that here—or send it to you?

    What?

    (@adhdcelt)

    Hey, Mike.
    Thanks for getting back to me on this.
    The site is on a localhost setup and not online.
    However, the only css I’m using for the form is the inline css on the form settings page in Dashboard.
    ———————————————-
    Here it is:
    CSS style for border on the contact form:
    width:550px;

    CSS style for required field text on the contact form:
    padding-left:146px; text-align:left;

    CSS style for extra field HTML on the contact form:
    padding-left:0px; text-align:left;

    CSS style for form input titles on the contact form:
    width:138px; float: left; text-align:right; padding-top:8px; padding-right:10px;

    CSS style for form input fields on the contact form:
    text-align:left; padding:2px; margin:0; color: #000000; background: #eeeeee;

    CSS style for form input fields DIV on the contact form:
    float: left; text-align:left; padding-top:10px;

    CSS style for form input errors on the contact form:
    text-align:left; color:red;

    CSS style for contact drop down select on the contact form:
    text-align:left;

    CSS style for Small CAPTCHA DIV on the contact form:
    position:relative; top:40px; left: 180px; width:170px; height:50px;

    CSS style for CAPTCHA DIV on the contact form:
    width:100px; height:65px; padding-top:5px;

    CSS style for CAPTCHA input field on the contact form:
    width:50px; float: left; text-align:left; padding:2px; background: #eeeeee;

    CSS style for Submit DIV on the contact form: float:
    left; padding-left: 20px; text-align:left;

    CSS style for Submit button on the contact form:
    cursor:pointer; margin:0;

    CSS style for Reset button on the contact form:
    cursor:pointer; margin:0;

    CSS style for “Powered by” message on the contact form:
    float: left; clear:left; font-size: 10px; font-weight:normal; padding-top:5px;

    Input Text Field Size: 39
    Input CAPTCHA Field Size: 6
    Input Textarea Field Cols: Rows: 30/20

    Anyone else out there got any bright ideas on how to solve this problem of being able to “rem out” code in HTML view of a page?

    Thread Starter adhdcelt

    (@adhdcelt)

    Well, that’s a new one on me.
    Thanks, richard
    I wonder why it does it when trying to rem out the a href code and not the text blocks?
    Do you know any way to fix it?

    Thread Starter adhdcelt

    (@adhdcelt)

    Ah!
    Theme Diva….
    Once again I experience your brilliant mind.

    Alas, I’ve been out of commission for the last few days and just now returned to the real world.

    As for “localhost root,” on my WAMP/www/wordpress setup, I suppose you mean the “www” folder?

    So, would I make a copy of the “wordpress” folder in the “www” folder and rename it, say wordpress2″ or something like that?

    Or, would I create a new sub-folder in the “www” folder, say “secondsite” and simply copy the “wordpress” folder into it?

    Thanks

    Thanks, esmi.

    I read all this, then tried the following and got the same message I got the last time I tried moving the site. Mind you, I’m moving from the WAMP localhost server installation from one “machine” at home to another machine at home that has WAMP loaded, not from one server to another at a hosted account. This is a local installation at home, and I’m trying to move the site from the old machine to the new machine:

    1. Copied wordpress folder from old machine and loaded it onto new machine c:\wamp\www—same path it was on the old machine.

    2. Exported mysql database file on old machine through phpmyadmin in WAMP.

    3. Imported database into WAMP on new machine using Import function in phymyadmin.

    4. Tried to open localhost/wordpress/wp-admin and got this, the same thing I got last time.
    =====================================
    Error establishing a database connection
    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    •Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    •Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    •Are you sure that the database server is running?
    ======================================
    No usernames, pw, etc. have changed in wp_config.php or anywhere else.
    WAMP appears to be working fine.
    I checked phpmyadmin and nothing seems to be out of place.
