I still have this problem. On most pages the “Edit” menu is not available. So I have to go via the Dashboard (which also is not available on all pages, since that top menu line is in those cases gone), and do a Pages | Search to edit my pages.
I have WordPress 6.1.1.
I have these plugins, all updated:
Advanced Editor Tools (previously TinyMCE Advanced)
Akismet Anti-Spam
Classic Editor
Collapse-O-Matic
Disable “BIG image” Threshold
Jetpack
Jetpack Boost
Jetpack Protect
PDF Embedder
Really Simple SSL
Table of Contents Plus
UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore
WP-Optimize – Clean, Compress, CacheI still have this problem which I would be very happy to have some comment on.
Another comment. If I edit a page that has got the menu disappearing; edit it through the Dashboard | Pages that appears after doing the “fake” login mentioned above, of a page, then that edit goes through.
After that editing and save and view then the WordPress menu appears again on that page!
So the title “(so editing not possible)” is not the complete truth. I am able to edit going through the Dashboard.
An additional comment. If I arrive at a page where there is no WordPress menus visible (but I am logged in), and type the “wp-admin” like at”../home/wp-admin” then it just goes directly to the Dashboard top page. It does not ask for the log-in credentials.

In reply to: organic themes pluginThanks for removing that link, but her permission was ok. But then, maybe the link was indeed redundant.
But then asking for plugins perhaps isn’t a valid question here.
But the question about Gutenberg would still be relevant, I’d hope. To restate:
I wonder whether portfolio or slider or slideshow is availabile from inside the Gutenberg editor, just by inserting some appropriate block? Without any non-WordPress.org plugin?

In reply to: organic themes pluginThanks, @sterndata.
Fair enough. One need to have a living.
But for my daughter, the page is [ redundant link removed ] She needs to show a portfolio and use a slider and slideshow.
Right now she isn’t able to proceed (make new or edit) entries for the “Organic Builder Widgets”. So we’re at a dead end, it feels.
I wonder if some of this is availabile from inside the Gutenberg editor? Or are there free plugins (to use and with an open Forum) that could be suggested? What about switching to Twenty Twenty-Two?

In reply to: Some pics some times sporadically shows the frame onlyI understood that advice, but I thought, perhaps – to try the easiest way first. But since I, if so needed, would go to Jetpack support, I’ll just mark this as resolved here in any case. Thanks!

I pressed “update” on the Jetpack plugin, it then said “Update failed: The plugin is at the latest version”.. (I may have pressed twice..) but so far this seems to have helped!
Isn’t that strange..
I’ll close this when I know for sure how this goes.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Cross-site trackingThank you, @erania-pinnera!
I see that there are both valid functional (like you explain) and valid economic (like that plugin, which I have got confirmed) incentives for doing cross-tracking.
Right now Safari tells me that google-analytics.com and googletagmanager.com are active on this wordpress.org page. I don’t know which group they might be in?
Even with cross-tracking being stopped by Safari, I don’t think I have experience of having to log in more often. I wonder why.
Since free lunches are rather seldom for all of us, we all have to earn our living. But then, the more open (“fair”?) that is, the better.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Cross-site trackingThanks! Since I am no specialist on this, may I ask whether “tracking” implies “cross-site tracking”?
Will adding “sharing buttons” in Jetpack also add “tracking” or “cross-site tracking”?
(I have a feeling that the Simple Share Buttons Adder plugin might have added “cross-site tracking” as none such has been stopped by Safari after I deactivated it two days ago.)

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Cross-site trackingThank you @deathlynotes!
But does Jetpack, or any other WordPress SW utilize cross-site tracking?
Then the plugins. What’s the general policy there?

Bryle, thanks! This is so well thought about. I like what I read.
I assume that Safari, when it “opened” the gz file, the first line was removed was the top of the database proper: # Table: wp_oyvind_options (?)
I still think that this should be warned or informed about, because after Safari’s “Open “safe” files after download” of the database gz file it’s virtually gone!
I had done this for weeks in good faith.
I’ll close this now. Thanks for great support!
Thanks

UPDATE: I tried to untick the Safari setup “Open “safe” files after download” which removed the unpacking of the 3.4 MB gz file. When I then, in Finder unpacked it (double clicked) all the 14.6 MB appeared!
Maybe a comment about this in the plugin may be appropriate? Or maybe a zip (instead of gz) would have automatically unzipped correctly (if they don’t this would have been the first time I have seen this)?
Not closing this yet, awaiting response. Thanks!
