In reply to: [Far Future Expiry Header] Far Future Expiry Header breaks NextGEN and othersThank you. So, I can uninstall the plugin and use the manual process described in the indicated post as I understand.

In reply to: [Far Future Expiry Header] Far Future Expiry Header breaks NextGEN and othersUpdate: I disabled the gzip option and the gallery thumbnail grid as well as the lightbox function returned to normal on the URL I provided above. That may help pinpoint the problem. However, on my production site, keptlight.com, it still does not add the necessary lines to htaccess file.
What part of the plugin provides the “real” function, the inserted code to htaccess or the active presence of the plugin? Does the plugin do work after inserting those lines or can those lines be manually added to the htaccess file and the plugin be deactivated? It is something that will be potentially very useful but it is hiding behind a thousand veils.
Currently, it is active on my test site with gzip disabled but the plugin is not active on keptlight.com since it does not seem to do anything other than adding weight gain.

In reply to: [Far Future Expiry Header] Far Future Expiry Header breaks NextGEN and othersmra13, I disabled all but NextGen and Far Future Expiry Header plugins and the behavior is still the same, NextGEN thumbnail grid is broken and the lightbox effect does not work. You can see it at:

In reply to: [Far Future Expiry Header] Far Future Expiry Header breaks NextGEN and othersmra13 thanks for replying. I don’t have flexslider, I use Shadowbox JS on my production site and on the testbeds.info I am using what comes with NextGEN Gallery. In both cases, the lightbox does not work but the gallery thumbnail grid also breaks down. I’ll be glad to try other options but disabling NextGEN will not prove anything since there will be nothing to break. The active plugins are: Genesis Responsive slider, Genesis Simple Hooks, Genesis Simple Edits, Genesis Simple Headers, NextGEN Gallery, and Far Future Expiry Header.

Why didn’t I think of that? 😉 But I’m glad I didn’t because it made me bring it to your attention.
Thanks,
Cemal
I forgot to add that I have a one-line css in the /wp-content/ngg_styles folder which sets the margin-right attribute to zero. It seems to apply to some galleries but not others.

Thanks Cais. I think I have figured it out. But I may ask a couple of other questions on the member’s area.

I agree that it is wise to move away from Flash shows. I have activated my NGG Pro and created one test slideshow. All is good but I have a couple of questions that I have not been able to resolve:
1. What is the difference between showing the captions “Bottom” or “Bottom (Overlay)” Both options seem to produce overlay display for me
2. Is there a way to show the overlay when the mouse hovers over the show area? Otherwise it is covering a good part of the photograph. You can see the test slideshow at the bottom of this old post:
http://www.keptlight.com/digital-polarizer/(Anyone who may read this after we resolve this issue will most likely not find the slideshow there.)
Oh, bummer 😉 I thought that was the case but wanted to get confirmation. We need to find a different solution. Will NGG Plus or Pro offer presentation options that will provide a wider title area?
Thanks,
Cemal
I have disabled Tiled Galleries feature altogether along with Photon which has been disabled for quite some time. I trust this will stop images being pushed to xx.wp.com. Thank you for your help.
Cemal
I understand now. Thank you.
Cemal
Well, I said in my post that Photon has been disabled for years. I prefer that the feature I disabled does not push its nose into my content. How can I achieve that? Do you mean if I use tiled galleries it will always use Photon and if I want no part of Photon I should disable tiled galleries as well?
Cemal
Yes I am, but I also have a premium support ticket open. I cannot even automatically block the URL access, I have tons of accesses to destinations that are not even proper, or missing page report for links that seem to work (at least from my end).
Cemal
Hi Tim, first thank you for your kind words about my site and Kirlangic collection. Interesting place it was indeed.
The problem I mentioned as off topic was the forum link examples coming back to bite! It is mainly my own fault not knowing, or at least thinking about it. That’s why I added the link with a generous peppering of spaces to break the URL appearance.
Thank you for writing back,
Cemal
