In reply to: POP3 connect: Error [111] [Connection refused]Ok I’ve just spent the last 5 days chasing down this error. For me, I was getting the “connection refused” Turns out that my web host, who the email address came from does not support this kind of blog operation. You can only check email from a email program not from a website. I put in a email address from my internet provider and it worked just as described in WP how to book.
Oh one more quick note, when I got a “connection timeout” error, it turned out I had the wrong numbers in there. Put it back to [110] and it worked!

I ended up on the phone with my web hosting company who I also got my blog email address from. Turns out they don’t support POP3 from the internet. She said it had to be from an email program. I thought she misunderstood but then changed my email address to a different company and it works just as it was supposed to.
Go figure!I am using http://www.1&1.com
