little clarification: my recommendation was for the plugin’s users like me, not for the devs 🙂 If we used embedded videos on our WordPress websites, then we should inform users with clear messages.

Thank your for your reply. It’s a major change regarding GDPR, so that’s great.
For people that are interested in that topic: In that new version, YouTube cookies are not set by default (thanks to the url youtube-nocookie url). But, if the user plays the video, the consent is logged and the video is loaded. That point is made very clear when you check the option Video Privacy Mode.
So it’s still not fully GDPR compliant (but it’s more a YouTube’s concern I would say, as the plugin’s developers have done their best on it). I suggest to place a message where the video should appear to explain to the user what happens when he clicks on play: “when clicking on the video, you accept the terms and conditions of youtube.com…”
