In reply to: how to remove a post from google searchHi Jan, Thanks for the response. The problem being that when anyone searches for my website (which I use for promotional purposes) the second listing is this link form 3 years ago – which doesn’t look good. Can you please advice me who to contact regarding removal.
Many thanks

In reply to: switching wordpress site to new domain on same serverUpdate, thanks to all your suggestions to date – think i’m finally making progress!
The site is almost there (I think) – i’ve uploaded the themes, plug-ins,(activated) and gallery – selected the theme in admin panel, but the text links on the title page aren’t as they were and there are no image – almost like a link is missing. Really appreciate it if anyone can help me over what seems like the final hurdle. Do I maybe need to uplad a .php file form the old domain?
Thanks

In reply to: switching wordpress site to new domain on same serverthanks guys – as you can probably gather, i’m struggling a bit with this!
I’ve now re-installed the new version (working) and about to import the .xml file that i exported from the old database.
I’m now faced with a number of options;
Blogger
Blogroll
Categories and Tags Converter
LiveJournal
Movable Type and TypePad
WordPress
If the importer you need is not listed, search the plugins directory to see if an importer is available.Do you know how I progress this? Once I’ve got past this stage, i can then ftp the theme files etc.
cheers

In reply to: switching wordpress site to new domain on same serverWell, I’ve successfully created the basic wp blog site and tried deleting the whole contents folder and replacing with the wp-contents folder on my old domain, but it doesn’t seem to work. Do i just copy over selective files from the old wp-content folder into the new?
Thanks

In reply to: Uploading my backed up website into a new domain?Thx Esme – this is detailed info, that will take me some time to get my head round – but I’ll give it a go!

Ye, it’s a WordPress site.
I just followed the 000webhost backup and on’t know if it waswebsite or database or both.
This is an extract from the back up page.‘But you can also get a fresh backup of your website by clicking the button ‘Generate Fresh Backup’. To make these files available to download click ‘Make Backup Available for Download’ button.’
And if you have a backup of your website made by our Backup Tool (a8027765.tar.gz), just upload it and your website will be restored.’
Sounds easy but because it’s over 50mb, it won’t auto upload.
Thanks
