You need to get WP Widget Cache for WordPress and disable caching on the widget itself. I had to do this and it seems to be working great. Let me know if this works for you.
I couldn’t get that widget to work either. I’m going to wait for next release to try it again…
I would like to work like you described as well, but it doesn’t seem to do that anymore (or at all maybe). I don’t really see a benefit to a plugin that doesn’t create users in both sites…
Can you give us some hints as to what to expect for features in the next version?
