<ahem> I apologize. After updating Contact Form 7, you have to “reapply” the fix in text.php
I’ve updated to the latest version of Contact Form 7.

I backed up the Db just in case, then I copied all the files from my root WP dir, and all the files in themes and plugins. Then I deleted everything from the server, uploaded the 2.9.2 files, then uploaded the backed up files from root, themes, and plug-ins. Fixed it.
What a waste of a good day.
