    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the tip regarding the “Product description parent product” field. I can confirm that descriptions are now back in the feed – which is great news!

However, we’re now facing a different issue: the <g:description> field in the XML is pulling in the entire HTML content of the product page, including <div> elements, inline styles, classes, and various layout tags (padding, etc.).

This creates a major problem on Google Merchant Center. The descriptions are no longer clean and readable – they appear bloated and hard to interpret. Worse, it forces us to manually edit each product’s description directly in Merchant Center, which defeats the purpose of using the feed automation.

Do you know if there’s any way to get a clean plain text version of the full product description (without HTML), rather than the raw HTML?

Thanks in advance for your help – we’ve already spent several hours trying different configurations and would love to avoid more manual work if possible.

    Best regards,

    Hi Jeff

Thanks for the quick reply. The products are initially set up as variable products in WooCommerce (mainly size variations), but the feed is configured to only include the first variant per product, meaning the feed entries are effectively treated as simple products.

Therefore, the “Parent Description” fallback shouldn’t be needed, as the issue affects all products in the feed — and none of them are shown as separate variations.

The field used to be populated correctly for years and suddenly stopped working after recent plugin/theme updates. I’d really appreciate your help in identifying the root cause.

    Thanks in advance.
