zip and gz file compatibility

    Hello,

    I am new to UpdraftPlus. I like it enough that I bought the ‘Migrate WordPress’ addon. However I keep running into one annoying problem.

    When I create a new backup set, the plugins, themes etc are saved as zip files, while the database is automatically saved in gz format. The route I am following to restore/migrate involves use of the ‘upload backup files’ option under ‘restore.’ This uploader (the ‘Drop backup zips here’ box + the ‘Select Files’ button) is only able to accept zip files. I can work around the problem, but it will save me some time if this just gets fixed (and it will make it easier for my end-users to do any needful backup and restore).

    You can drop your .gz files there too.

    Unfortunately no, it doesn’t work.
    Since the plugin brings up a Finder window (I’m on Mac OS X 10.7, issue occurs in both Chrome and Safari) this might be something to do with my own system rather than UpdraftPlus.

    Hi,

    Yes, it seems that for some reason some Macs decide to grey-out the db.gz files. The work-around is to open them directly in the program for navigating the filesystem, and drag-drop them from there, instead of opening that pesky dialog.
