• Hi, I been developing a wordpress theme for a client – a non-profit organisation involved in investing in developing countries.

They asked for a simple design and layout and I have come up with this:
    http://topuptents.x10hosting.com/wordpress
(currently on free hosting I use as a development server.

I know the design is quite boring and plain, and although it would hopefully be more interesting once some proper content is added, I would appreciate some advice on making the theme a bit more exciting without going overboard.

I would also like to avoid flash and go easy on javascript.

I currently have implemented lightbox on the site and also have an image fader on the home page.

  • I don’t think it’s boring at all, but that’s a matter of personal opinion, I guess.

What I find rather disturbing is the disappearing sidebar when selecting a post (I do the same on my site, however my sidebar is on the right hand side, and seems less disturbing – to me that is).

I purposely made it so only archive pages have a sidebar. I figured I didn’t want to clutter the site with catagories and tags and stuff on pages where it would be irrelevent.

The theme is meant to be more of a site than a blog – as such wordpress is being used more as a content management system.

    Thanks for the comments though…
