Yoast SEO causing periodic timeout messages

I’ve been receiving notices from Jetpack and have noticed that when Yoast SEO is installed, my site goes down every few hours. The timeout is usually for a few minutes (think 2-3 minutes) but it’s often enough that it’s annoying. How do I begin to diagnose and fix this? Thanks!

Clarification: This is the second time I’ve installed Yoast SEO in the last six months. I installed it in early May and the timeouts began. Removed it in June and it disappeared, but a few hours after I installed Yoast again this week, it began again. Pretty sure it’s Yoast that’s doing this.
