How do I get Yoast SEO to include alt text of header images?
I have a number of pages with only header images, and Yoast tells me my images should have alt text. My header images all have alt texts but apparently they do not play with Yoast.

    Hello @christian1001,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Can you let us know how you are adding the images in the first place? Using page builders can affect Yoast’s content analysis. For example, adding images through WPBakery may prevent Yoast from scanning the Image Alt Attributes.

Moreover, how you add alt text to your images depends on what editor you are using. If you are using the default WordPress editors, you can follow the instructions here to add and check alt text for your images.

If you are using an editor that replaces the default WordPress editor, please check the instructions for your particular editor on how to add an alt text to your images.

    Hi Maybellyne
    Thank you for replying!
I am not using a page builder but just the default wordpress editor. Header images however are added with a plugin called Unique Headers, as my theme in itself does not allow for editing header images.

    Hello @christian1001,

It is possible that the Unique Headers plugin has not added the right code to hook into Yoast SEO analysis. Unfortunately, this is not something we can fix on our end; we can’t add the functionality to a third-party plugin.

However, we recommend getting in touch with the plugin developer for assistance. This knowledgebase article will help them with the implementation — Can I add data to the page analysis?

Please bear in mind this doesn’t mean that search engines won’t be able to scan your image alt attributes. Our content analysis is just to validate your content and doesn’t affect how search engines crawl and index your site.

    Thanks!
