I did a test with 5 other SEO plugins. All with a zero wordpress installation without any other active plugins.
The tested plugins were:
SEOPress
WordPress SEO Plugin – Math Rank;
All in One SEO Pack;
SmartCrawl WordPress SEO checker, analyzer, and optimizer
The SEO Framework
Some are simpler and others have all the features that Yoast has.
They all only add extra loading to the site panel when I open a post / page for editing or a category / tag / taxonomy.
Yoast on the contrary in wordpress dashboard already loads more than 3.5mb files without any need. Even with all analytics features disabled.
Comparison between plugins.
The page that was tested here was the wordpress dashboard (https://www.site.com/wp-admin/)
SEOPress – Features: 950kb – Requests: 22 – Average Load: 1.2s
Rank Math – Resourceful: 1005kb – Requests: 27 – Average Load: 1.3s
All in One – Resources: 948kb – Requests: 30 – Average Load: 1.2s
SmartCrawl – Resources: 945kb – Requests: 23 – Average Load: 1.2s
Framework – Resources: 909kb – Requests: 20 – Average Load: 800ms
Yoast – Resources: 4.5mb – Requests: 48 – Average Load: 2.2s

What’s next?
Our product team will asses the severity of this problem in relation to other open bug reports and new features. Based on their assessment, the bug report will be given a priority. Our developers work on the highest priority issues first. Unfortunately, this means we cannot give you an estimate when they’ll start working on your report.
