  • Nothing’s broken on your site. That message is Chrome’s, not Yoast’s. Chrome is dropping XSLT, and on a Yoast sitemap the only job XSLT has is making the file look nice for humans.

Google and Bing read the raw XML, so your sitemap keeps working for search either way. Once Chrome finishes pulling it, you’ll just see plain XML when you open the sitemap yourself.

If you want peace of mind, open Search Console, go to Sitemaps and check that sitemap_index.xml says Success. That’s the view that actually matters.

Yoast will likely swap the styling for something that doesn’t need XSLT in a future update, so nothing to change for now.

Thanks for reaching out, @insecttrojan and for your response, @chenszo.

We are aware that Google Chrome 158, to be released on 17th November 2026, will remove XSLT support; Firefox and Safari have announced similar plans. A fix that replaces the XSLT stylesheet of the XML sitemaps with a CSS one, so they keep rendering as a readable table after browsers drop XSLT support, will be included in an upcoming release. Plugin updates are released every few weeks on average, so it shouldn’t be too long.
