I’ve installed the plugin and put a flag on “Store audio in Amazon S3”.

The point is that the plugin creates a S3 bucket in the region US East (N. Virginia), while my EC2 instance and other S3 buckets are in EU West (Frankfurt).

How can I fix this, moving mp3 files to EU West and create there new audio files?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Davide!
Currently there is no possibility to use different region with the plugin (also you should not move it by yourself). It will use N.Virginia only. I understand that you don’t get any error message, just from ‘best practise’ perspective, you would prefer to have server and audio files in this same region – yes? I will note this requirement for our roadmap, so we will try to add this feature in future release.

    Cheers,
    Tomasz

It’s not only a matter of “best practice”, it’s a matter of performance, since 95% of the users of my website come from Italy.

Actually I’ve issues in performing the “Bulk update”. I’ve 76 posts. The first time the plugin has finished at 1,32% (1 post). After that, for three times it stays forever on “Loading…”. After that I’ve managed to go to 46,05% (35 posts), but now I’m always with “Loading…” and no more posts “pollyed”.

Below some specs for my installation, hosted on a Amazon EC2 instance. Can you give a hint?

    Thanks.

    Hi Davide,
Probably this was connected with small bug in v.1.0.0 – in current version we resolved it. Could you try it again?

Thank you but, as you can see in the installation specs (see previous post), I’m using the new version of the plugin:

Hmmmm… It seems that the bulk update freeze on one of your posts, and that’s why it doesn’t want to continue… It’s a bit hard to say what was exactly the reason :/ Did you checked if there are some logs available?

    Thread Starter Davide Radice

    (@davide-radice)

Hi, the plugin has encoded 35 post. After the most 20 recent posts, this is the first that has been skipped:

In which logfile should I look into?

    Thanks.

    Hi Davide,
Sorry for late answer, we were working on fixing and adding some other things to the plugin. We have added the logic to change AWS Region (based on this I will close this thread), but if you still have got the problem with bulk update, could you let me know?

    Thank you tstachlewski.

I’ve updated the plugin and I’m going to test it. But… do I need to move the files in S3 (mp3s that represent the 46,05% of the posts) from the US region to the EU or what?

Anyway I thank you for adding this feature.

I’ll wait your comment before proceding.

    Hi Davide,
If you will change the region (please update also the IAM policy first!), audio for all new posts will be saved in S3 bucket in new region. The bulk update currently doesn’t support the region awareness, so if you already had audio files already generated for older posts, it won’t recreate it or move it (also don’t try to move it by yourself). If you would like to create and have audio files for all posts in bucket in new region, you would need to do following:
    1) Do bulk update with different voice (region is not important)
    2) Do bulk update again with new region, and the proper voice.

Thanks to this approach, all audio files will be moved to S3 bucket located in new region. But I also admit, that this approach has is not perfect, because you will need to do two times conversions of posts.
