WP Managed Hosting – Shared vs. VPS?
-
Looking for a new host and comparing WP Engine and SiteGround. For my last host, shared hosting wasn’t good enough (exceed memory limits and was shut down), so I had to upgrade to VPS.
I just learned that WP Engine is a form of shared hosting, although they claim to manage server resources better than traditional shared hosts. I thought I needed VPS (memory use is 800 mb and growing), but WP Engine seems like a premium service. Any advice on whether their shared hosting might be as good as VPS hosting?
For SiteGround, I would get the (very expensive) VPS Cloud 1 Plan with WordPress Booster. Also considering Flywheel (cheapest option) who say they are VPS (and WP optimized).
Thanks!
