    Hello everyone

In a wordfence scan I found the following “Problem found High” message:

    Unknown file in WordPress core:

    wp-includes/css/ebpngu.css

    Type: File

    File name: /homepages/27/d861972507/htdocs/clickandbuilds/web16/wp-includes/css/ebpngu.css

    File Type: Core

Details: This file is in a WordPress core location but is not distributed with this version of WordPress. This scan often includes files left over from a previous WordPress version, but it may also find files added by another plugin, files added by your host, or malicious files added by an attacker.

I have searched the forum and no entry with “ebpngu.css” appears

Does anyone know if this is a malicious file?

    Thank you so much

Hi @kinosurf, Thank you for reaching out.

From previous cases, it appears that the click & build WordPress installation from IONOS does cause these files to be created. Ideally, the folders should be left unchanged, hence why Wordfence is flagging their presence.

You should be able to select “Ignore” for the results in the Wordfence > Scan page so that it does not appear in subsequent scans under the “Results Found” tab. It will appear under the “Ignored Results” tab instead.

Alternatively, you can contact IONOs if you believe the file should be removed.

    Thanks,

    Mark
