    Hi

I have added a WP Form to my contact page and sent several messages to myself through the form (to see if it works) but I am not receiving them at my email address (I have set my email address up in notifications). Might it be because my site is not yet launched? Or something else?

    Thanks,

    Katherine

  • Hello @katherinebetteridge,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with email delivery.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can check that your form notification settings are configured correctly by following our tutorial.

If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

To resolve email delivery issues like this, you can configure a SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    I hope this helps 🙂

    Hi Prasant

I followed your advice and configured an SMTP plugin. I used WP Mail SMTP. The problem seemed to be solved as I messaged myself, using the email account connected with my WordPress account, and it came through to my email. However, I then tried messaging myself from a different email and it didn’t work. I tried a few times. Have you any ideas why it might still not be quite working right?

    Thanks,

    Katherine

I just saw this message on my dashboard:

MAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v2.5.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

    Mailer: Other SMTP
    SMTP Error: data not accepted.
Consider running an email test after fixing it.

    Hello @katherinebetteridge,

Thanks for updating the thread & I apologize for the trouble you’re facing!

When you have sometime, can you please create a support ticket in WP Mail SMTP forum and from there, our support team will be able to take a closer look at your request.

    Thanks!
