    Hi All,

    I hope you’re all well.

I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this…two customers have recently completed our ‘registration form’ (has CAPTCHA enabled), and they have received this error:

“The form was unable to submit. Please contact the site administrator.”

I have been using the WP Forms plug-in and our form for 3 years (with some updates) and have never had issues until this year.

    I have:

    1. Checked the forum for similar issues – followed steps, still not solved
    2. Updated WP and all plug-ins
    3. Checked the ‘purge cache time’ in Breeze – set to default recommended setting 1440 (1 day)
    4. I cannot however replicate this error

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    JP

    Hello @jaynation,

Thanks for reaching out and I am so sorry to hear about the trouble.

I have inspected your site and it looks like you are using – “Anti spam prevention” feature on the form.

Because of this, your users are getting this error- “The form was unable to submit. Please contact your administrator” and they were unable to submit the form. The issue occurs because of the difference in the cache lifetime on your site and in the token lifetime of the anti-spam protection option (which is set to 2 days).

    Solution:

    1. Disable the anti-spam protection on your form: https://i.imgur.com/LprdFZ8.png. Since you have reCaptcha configured, that should be enough to prevent spam entries.

Or, 2. increase the lifetime of our token to 1 day more than your site cache lifetime is now. This can be accomplished by following this tutorial.

In case it helps, here’s our tutorial with the most common ways to add custom code like this.

For the most beginner-friendly option in that tutorial, I’d recommend using the WPCode plugin. This will protect your code from updates and keep it easy to manage right within your WordPress admin area.

Once you are done with the changes, the issue should be resolved.

    Hope this helps. Thanks!

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
