I’m not married to the 3-column format – the right column on my site is virtually empty, and what is there could easily be moved to the left panel. Is there an easy way to salvage what I have in terms of layout, fonts, colors, etc?
Well if you are headed back to 2 columns my Gemini template might suit you. You can easily restyle your fonts and fancy bits in the CSS there.
Can anyone point out exactly what is the offending code that causes IE to spaz like it does? Is it in the HTML in the index.php, or is it something in the CSS?
At a guess its the padding.
I think you’ll find the offending code inside IE itself.
It offends a lot of us π
… grumble. This is making me want to scrap the whole damn CSS thing and just redesign it using tables …
Nothing wrong with infomercials for Gemini and Trident. π Thanks guys for the write ups. If it helps folks then that is all I need.
jbickers,
A site that blows up in IE is the fault of IE more often than not. I encourage you to tough it out and work it through. I’ve learned most of everything I know about CSS because of WP, and although tables certainly have their place, they aren’t really necessary, and won’t solve all of your design problems.
I can certainly understand your frustrations, because I was there once as well. Hell, I was there the other day, in fact! The more I do, the more I want to try. It’s a great way to expand your knowledge, and the rewards will be well worth it.
Craig.
A site that *blows up* in IE is rapidly becoming a badge of pride π

Yeah, a site that doesn’t work properly for four-fifths of the internet is really something to be proud of.

I would have thought a more important part of the user experience was being encouraged to get their site the way they want it, not necessarily the way some amateur CSS coder designed it. Each to their own.
