After the wp core auto update to 5.2.3 at midnight last night, I’ve had 2 clients call me to say they have been contacted by people trying to sign up to the their sites whom say they get the email telling them their account is ready but, when they try to login, nothing happens and, when I login to wp-admin to investigate, there is no record of them even signing up.

    Both are woocommerce ecommerce sites.

I suspect woocommerce will have to scramble to catch up to last nights auto update to wp core 5.2.3

    Cheers.

It turns out that it’s a cache issue. Both sites also use W3Cache with Couldflare for page cache, DNS and DDOS mitigation.

I cleared both cache systems and new registrations are working again.

It would be nice if WP Core would notify before pushing out these auto-security updates.

I always clear the cache after doing updates and, could have prevented these sites from falling on their faces if I knew when to expect the auto update, so I could schedule the caches to be cleared.
