wp-config.php file

    Hello everyone. I am new to WP as of today. What steps can be taken to ensure that the database information on wp-config.php is protected? I noticed there isn’t any directory around it to allow for htaccess to be installed.

    No one can read the info on wp-config.php unless they have access to FTP or access to the server admin panel. So you could leave the file alone.

    You can put an .htaccess file in your wp root folder; in fact, if you’re going to use rewrite rules of any sort for wp specifically (such as for permalink structure), the .htaccess file has to be in the wp root folder….
