• Hi
I now host a few WP sites in the one hosting package, and the first one was a little family diary blog – jimcallaghan.com – the others have been made since then, are wholly contained in sub folders beneath /public_html/ so I thought I’d move the main one in to a folder too. Nothing short of OCD tidy up of the root.
I copied the contents of all the ncessary root files & folders in to a sub direcotry. Browse to it and I’m told WP can’t find a wp-config.php file. I go back to the root to look at the files and sure enough – one does not exist for the exisitng WORKING website. What DOES exist is WPCONFIGG.php Double GG. So aside from moving and tidying up, I now can’t figure out how the site is working at all in the first place!?
Any offers would iron out the wrinkles in my brain.
    Thanks in advance.

Just to be on the safe side, get a new wp-config-sample.php file from a fresh download at https://wordpress.org/download/ fill it in, re-title it to wp-config.php and upload it replacing the other.

I don’t suspect any foul play, and also for that matter can’t figure out how it would have worked when renamed, but there’s no reason to not play it safe. 🙂
