wp-comments file on upgrade

I just want to be sure the world is not going to end.
I have tweaked my wp-comments.php file quite a bit, so when it was time for this upgrade from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2, I realized that I did not want to overwrite my wp-comments file.
So, I just renamed my wp-comments-post.php, as shown in the wonderful post of life : http://wordpress.org/support/3/13443
and then I just uploaded the older wp-comments.php, not the one from the newest upgrade.
Is this a problem?
