• I’ve been running wordpress sites for several years now, and usually use 1and1.com for hosting. I have never had any issues with them. My current site has to be hosted on a different server. It’s a very different experience using this server. I can only connect via SSH, which is tedious, and I have to contact their support people for any server changes, creation of databases, creation of sub-domains etc. Just a different experience.

At somepoint in building this site, loading site.com/wp-admin/ produced a blank page! luckily auto fill in safari remembered some deeper admin area pages, so when I go to the themes page I can bob around using the admin nav, but I cannot EDIT PAGES. Anyone have an idea? I’m stumped.

Could it be the .htaccess file i created with instructions on the permalinks page?

    what theme are you using?

This is happening on two different sites hosted at the same server.

I’m using Woo Themes for both. Hustle and Function.

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of your current version of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

@esmi: I was on this track
I switched to default theme. No difference.

    I have no plugins installed

    I re-uploaded. No change.

This is the second server-type issue I’ve come across with 1&1 in the last couple of hours.

Many hosts recently experienced problems due to mass attacks recently and temporarily disabled access to wp-admin and/or wp-login.php as a result. 1&1 were one of them. I suspect that your current problem is the result of this. You need to contact them about it.

@esmi, re-read OP. This issue is not with 1and1. I normally use them without problems, but this issue is with a different host.

This issue is not with 1and1.

Sorry – I misunderstood your original post. However, the same still applies. Contact your hosts.

@esmi, yeah, got the support folks looking into it. Will see.
