well I was going to go with wordpress, but why bother with all this nonsense of downloading 2 versions if there’s plenty of alternatives available..

I just installed the new WordPress about a week ago. Ran into a site that asked me about this file. Didn’t have it. Searched the forums. Downloaded 1.2. Uploaded 1.2’s file. And all was well.
@anonymous I agree that there are plenty of alternatives and many are largely good. I have personally tried many systems: Movabletype, Textpattern, Pivot, Greymatter, Drupal, xoops, et al. In my opinion, none of these came any close to install and ready to go in just about 5-minutes without even the manual!. Ofcourse, you’re free to try any or others yourself to suit your need.
If you change your mind, the community is always here. Cheers.

well, the install was quick and easy but I basically wasted the last hour trying to find out if it was possible to use the MT api to post, then *how* to use it, then trying to find out why I don’t have xmlrpc.php in my installation… this is a very easily fixed problem, you could have spent 2 minutes correcting it and saved how many of us how much trouble?
