WordPress.org vs Self-Hosted
-
Ok I think I asked before but I need to ask one more time I dont get this.
I had a site on wordpress.org I disabled this. My current site is self-hosted. But what I don’t quite understand if I go to someones blog who uses wordpress.org my comments will appear under wordpress.org and not my own self-hosted. Their response never comes back to me only if I happen to reply to a question again do I see responses/comments waiting?

In this case, I think you mean WordPress.com, not WordPress.org.
https://wordpress.com/ is a blogging service and social network, https://wordpress.org/ is just the site where we host, develop, and support the WordPress blogging software.
If you had a self-hosted blog, it was a WordPress.org blog, not a WordPress.com blog.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_vs_WordPress.com
WordPress.com has its own account system, so to affect future comments left on WordPress.com blogs, make sure that you have your Primary Site and Web Address set as desired at https://wordpress.com/me/account
Did you not see my response to you here?:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-self-hosted-vs-org?replies=2I think you mean you had a .COM site. No one has a site on .ORG since .org hosts no sites; you have a self-hosted site. .COM sites enjoy the interconnected network of WP.com blogs which self-hosted sites are not a part of. Please see the above thread for more.
EDIT: @macmanx is too quick for me π
Speed doesn’t matter, alternative wording is much appreciated. π
James I do have my site wwww.curvygirlsarechic.com set here https://wordpress.com/me/account
What is happening is I will go to someone else’s site and leave a comment, they may respond to my comment. The tool bar at the top of the admin panels have a little comment bubble where you can click and view comments (it actually highlights when there are some) well that does not show-up on my curvygirlsarechic.com admin panel but the curvygirlsarechic.wordpress.com panel as well as it says I have followers how I don’t know because I disabled this long ago ….
Oh, that’s WordPress.com Notifications, which you can add (along with many other feature) to your not-WordPress.com blog with the Jetpack plugin: http://jetpack.me/
Ok I have to decide between Jetpack and WPSSO something in the JetPack was causing lots of errors and I removed it. I was not using the SEO in jetpack at the time because I have google analytics and Yoast and Wordfence.
If you run into errors, just let me know what they are. π
Hey James don’t mine me I am not ignoring you Im just trying to complete my sew along and I my time is a bit limited .. so ok here is an error message..
Social – Yoast SEO
WPSSO Notice:
Plugin conflict detected – Please uncheck the ‘Add Open Graph meta data’ option under the Yoast SEO / Social / Facebook settings tab.
WPSSO Notice:
Plugin conflict detected – Please uncheck the ‘Add Twitter card meta data’ option under the Yoast SEO / Social / Twitter settings tab.
Don’t miss your crawl errors: connect with Google Search Console here.
Dismiss this notice.Im trying to get my social media cards set-up but everytime I do I get this conflict. So let me ask you this if I have Yoast and JPack do I need WPSSO?
No, Yoast SEO will take care of all of that for you.
Jetpack actually will too, but if Yoast SEO is present, Jetpack automatically disables its feature for that so as to avoid conflicting with Yoast SEO.
So I don’t need WPSSO b/c this is frustrating me to no end! π
Im trying to do the insights on my FB Page and now I’m getting this error
WPSSO Notice:
Possible conflict detected β your theme or another plugin is adding a meta name=”description” HTML tag to the head section of this webpage.Grrrr lol is there some kind of book I can read that gives me all these basics?
Also one other thing my FB is asking me to add a heading to my page but I am not sure which page I should add it too? Should it be my main page that says start here?
Yep, get rid of WPSSO and configure Yoast SEO for the social things at SEO -> Social in your blog’s Dashboard.
That will take care of everything. π
Ok I just deleted it I will let you know what happens..
BTW while I am familiar with webpages I am not sure where the heading of my blog page would be? I have DiviBuilder installed on my blog too as I brought over all my posts from blogger someone set it up for me.
Don’t worry, Yoast SEO will make sure it’s there. The main problem is that WPSSO was conflicting with it.
Ok its all deleted.
I have one more question… I have this embedded code
<div id="pgt80950232689pgt" class="pgtContainpgt"><a href="//giveawaytools2.com/giveaway.php?sk=80950232689" rel="nofollow" target="_BLANK2">Entry</a><script type="text/javascript" src="//giveawaytools.com/wid/embed.php?sk=80950232689"></script><a href="//giveawaytools.com/giveaway.php?sk=80950232689" rel="nofollow" target="_BLANK2">-Form</a></div>I need to get it to show up on a post but when I post it and go preview it its all code π How can I get the graphic to show up for the contest entries?
