I currently have the church’s website set up using a wordpress.com template and I am wanting to change it over to a wordpress.org site using a different template. Can you tell me how I am to go about freeing up my domain from the wordpress.com site so I can have the domain pointing toward the wordpress.org site instead? Thank you very much for your time.

If you already have host account where you installed wordpress.org then all you need to is change name servers at the registrar of domain name to point to your host account

I don’t have a wordpress.org site yet because I want to the domain I already have for the wordpress.com site to be the one I use for the new wordpress.org site. My question is how do I get to use the domain I already have for the wordpress.com site to be the domain for the .org site?

When you get a host account they will give a temp url that you can use to set up and log in your account using that you can set up wordpress get all working and then change name servers.

If you change name servers first your wordpress at wordpress.com will be down as the domain name will point to your host that does not have any thing setup.
