    Hi everyone,

    Here are the facts:
    – I have a domain externally registered with GoDaddy
    – I have created a website with wordpress.com
    – My domain is mapped to wordpress.com for $13/year
    – I want to switch to wordpress.org
    – I haven’t made much progress with the website, so I’m happy to start from scratch

I can’t get my head around how to de-register my domain from .com and start building it with .org.

I don’t want to lose the domain name.

    Any advice?

If I understand you correctly, your site is hosted on wordpress.com?

If so, then if you want to move your site, you will have to pick a web host. WordPress.org does not host sites.

Once you pick a host, you go to godaddy and point your domain to the new web host. Godaddy can help you will this part. You could also host your site on godaddy but you don’t have to.
