• I installed and activated WordPress.com Stats and it doesn’t like my API key.

    “The API key “7101ce1c77a4” belongs to the WordPress.com account “johnchartrand661″. If you want to use a different account, please enter the correct API key.”

    This is the API key I received and used with Askismet plugin. It also says if I want to use a different account to enter the correct API key. What is the correct API key? And how do I get it if I don’t have the right one that I’m using with Askimet.

    I tried to create a Google Analytics account, but it wants me to enter the code in each page of my site within the <head> tag of the html, but WordPress uses .php and I don’t know where to place it.

  • I think that’s the message that shows when you enter a valid key. It’s just telling you who owns the key (presumably you) and that you can re-enter a different key if you want. Wait a while and see if some stats are shown.

    You would add your Google analytics tracking code directly to your theme’s header.php file (or preferably, a child theme of such). There are also a few plugins that will do it for you, such as this one:
