WordPress version updated – User profile and associated posts/work deleted

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of last week (October 15-17) I have been revising, updating, testing the site in anticipation of the website launch this coming week.

I have only had a personal WordPress user account for a week – been using another users profile before that. Thursday, we updated the WordPress we were running to the most recent 3.6.1 version. I made sure to backup the site. I continued working for the rest of the day/night. I came into the office on Friday to find that my WordPress profile and all the work associated with said profile was gone. All the work that I had done for the week was lost and I was unable to even sign into WordPress – It was like an older version of the site had taken over. Some of the changes made by other users stayed, while other changes they made had been lost. There is really no rhyme or reason, as far as I can tell, for the changes.

Any help or advice would be most appreciated – I feel like pulling my hair out given how much work I may have lost!
