How are your PHP skills?
To determine if the server is right, create a stand-alone .php file on your website root called utc.php with this in it:
<?php
echo gmdate( 'M d Y H:i:s' );
?>
Then view it in your browser with a URL something like this: http://example.com/utc.php
To eliminate the possibility of an error on your part, compare the results of the above PHP with the results here:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/timezone/utc
I did what you have said. My local time is right now 01.02.2015 01.44
The answer when i typed utc.php at the end of my website’s url is;
Jan 31 2015 23:44:55
So? Its hosting issue:) They told me lie lol 🙂
I get the same time (23:xx) from the site I gave you in my second post. Which says your host has the right time as UTC.
Are you saying that UTC time is not 23:58 right now?
Yeap. I am in turkey and now my local time is 02:00 and when i asked my hosting they told the time same with mine. 🙂 but when i check that site it shows up 23:59 :S I dont use any specific dns or ip on my computer. Its weird.
Ahh okey when i type there my country ( i mean in http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/) its true. It shows 02:02.
just check this url: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/turkey/istanbul
Its my local time. But in wordpress admin panel (settings/genera) page
UTC timezone 01.02.2015 00:04:36 Local timezone: 01.02.2015 02:04:36
Ignore this post until I’ve read your subsequent reply.
A number of hours wrong. Its not same with my local time and that caused sitemap timezone issue. my sitemap shows up wrong timezone and this cause google to index my pages in wrong time 🙂
In my worpredd admin page its like ;
UTC timezone 01.02.2015 00:04:36 Local timezone: 01.02.2015 02:04:36
In the page you wanted me to create and type that url is
Feb 01 2015 00:04:36
And in the site you gave me and i checked up there.
Its same with my local time. 01.02.2015 02:04:36
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/turkey/istanbul
Please wait until I catch up.
I didn’t realize that we were talking about Google indexing and sitemaps.
As I understand you now, WordPress is reporting your local time and UTC correctly on the Admin panel. But its Sitemap is not reporting the time correctly to Google and other search engines.
I hate to be a jerk at this point, but I don’t know anything about either Sitemaps or Google indexing. And didn’t realize that that was what we were talking about
Hopefully, someone else will step in with an answer. If my understanding of your problem is incorrect, please clarify. Otherwise, if you don’t get an answer in the next 2 hours, please close this as Resolved, and ask the question again in this forum, being sure to state the Google/Sitemap part of it.
Sorry for the runaround, but I know that threads with this many responses don’t usually get looked at by others.
Thanks. I will ask this issue in other forums. I thought the utc and local time are same. but not realised they are different from each other. my sitemap gets utc timezone not local time. thats why all my index’s timezone are wrong. Thanks for helping anyway 🙂
