Recently I updated my theme and the site has simply stopped working. Class Triggers don’t work, the blog has a constant loading icon but nothing happens etc.
I have contacted the theme designer who assures me it’s not the theme.

I installed a backup from a time when I know the site was working but, again the same problems. Which makes me think it must be a deeper problem.

If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative.

One question I would like an answer to though is: If I deleted the entire site and reinstalled WP from scratch, would my backup still be a valid backup?

I have contacted the theme designer who assures me it’s not the theme.

To confirm, first off, try switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

If you don’t have access to your Dashboard’s Appearance page, access your server via FTP/ SFTP , or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder by adding "-old" to the end of the folder name. Alternately, you can remove other themes except the default theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.). That will force your site to use it.

Funny that, theme dev just made a new update available and… Voila! Perfectly working site. Not the theme, my *ss!

Thanks for the help, though 😉
