WordPress staging site

    Hello.

    I have a problem with creating staging site for my site.

    – I created subdomain stage.domain.com
    – I copied all files from domain.com to stage.domain.com (wp-config has been updated with new database data)
    – I created a new database and imported it from domain.com to new db (I exchanged in the database ://domain.com -> ://stage.domain.com and domain.com/ -> stage.domain.com/

    I think I did everything ok, but:
    – my widgets have disappeared from the site
    – some administrator panel options don’t work

    Do you have any ideas what could have gone wrong?

    Hello frytek150,

    Instead of doing this, I would recommend you using Duplicator plugin and it will make things simpler for you to clone site from Production to staging.

    Is it possible to do it without using a plugin? Free versions of the Duplicator plugins for the staging version are useless.
