WordPress Site size suddenly increased.

    Hi!

    I have made a wordpress site which was approximately of size 164 Mb.
    This website size has suddenly increased to 500 Mb.When I check in Filezilla, only folders that has increased in size are Wp-includes and wp-admin. Wp-content folder is only 30 bytes.

    Is there some problem of hacking.

    Please tell me how to resolve it.

    Its very possible that the site has been hacked. The first thing to do is find all of the extra files that are taking up that space. When you find those, you’ll have more chance of telling what they are from.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks a lot! Just checked filezilla and came to know, it is the errorlog file which is of 499818398 bytes .What is this file and how can I reduce its size.

    That’s a file that your hosting server creates when your scripts cause errors on the server. If it’s that size, I’d highyl recommend looking thorugh it to find out what the errors are, and if they weren’t some strange thing happening, fix them quickly so that you don’t have this happen again.

    You can delete that file without any problems at all. Just be aware that it will reappear the next time that there’s an error from a script in that directory.

    Hi Michael !
    Thanks a lot ! Checked the error log file and found that it was a problem of widget.Deleted that widget it has got resolved.
