WordPress not importing

When I go to Import under Tools and I browse for the XML file that I exported from another wordpress site, it completes the import and says “All done. Have fun!” but when I go to the site, nothing has changed. No posts, pages or comments have been imported. I’ve tried this with and without checking the attachments box, but nothing has worked.
