WordPress HTTPS High Waiting TTFB Time After Really Simple SSl Installation

    I have wp site with woo commerce installed on it. It has about 6-10 products only. It is on a business plan server on hostgator. After installing https, my website loading time has increased too much. Before it used to load in 4s now it is taking around 12s. All this is happening because there are high waiting time(around 2-3 s) on every request sent to the website.

    All this happened after installing Really Simple SSL Plugin. I deactivated it but speed was still the same. So i activated it again.

    I am using all page speed optimization plugins and caching plugins. Can anyone please help me with problem. My site has 44 requests and there are around 14-15 plugins installed.

    Hi,

    12 seconds loading time is indeed pretty slow. Your website is only 540kb in size, that’s good. If the loading times are like that with or without SSL enabled It’s usually because the hosting is slow. You can try to disable non-critical plugins one by one to see if any of those is causing the long wait times. If the loading time remains the same, I’d suggest to contact your hosting provider about this.

    As disabling the plugin didn’t speed up the site, this shows this is not caused by the plugin, but by the SSL connection. Apart from the hosting, I would specifically check for third party scripts, which can slow down a site considerably when on SSL.
