• Question: How do you get WordPress to go to our home page when someone types in “agosolutions.us” ?

Right now it takes you to “Index of /”

    Any help would be Great.

    Thank you, Tyler

  • Hello Tyler,

indexof/ usually means there is no index.php file in the directory. Have you installed WordPress in the top level folder or in a subdirectory (for example /blog?)

    Steven:

When we used the auto install program in Cpanel it asked for a install dir we put” public_html” there are actually now there are TWO folders with the same name ahead of the wordPress Dir.
    /public_html/public_html/

When we add the path for some of our images we use” http://agisolutions.us/public_html/wp-content/images/
It only shows ONE “/public_html” BUT when I go to our FTP program and look at the path it shows TWO “public_html” folders “/public_html/public_html/wp-content/images/”

I think this is causing the problem with the server seeing WP? Looks like WP masks out one of the public_html?

I hope this is clear enough to understand.

    Thanks for your time

    Tyler

Is it possible for you to start again and leave the install directory field blank so it installs in the root? That would sort out the issues and set everything up correctly.

Ok that sounds good but how do we go about that without loosing everything? That is going to put everything back to the beginning when we first started and we dont want that.

My concern is that when we do a RESTORE will it not try to restore it to the OLD path with the two public_html folders?

    Thanks Tyler

    Hello,

It depends how you do the restore. The automatic installer might put it back where it was, however you can export the content and download the themes/plugins, reinstall WordPress core into the right directory then manually upload the themes/plugins and then import the content.

    Hello Steven:

This is where we are at now.
I deleted all files & Directory for (wordpress).

Went to do a re-install and got a error message.

Error with installation, Directory already exist?

The public_html folder is still there, I did NOT delete it because there is a folder under it “quidb” with files
And not sure if it has anything to do with wordpress?

    *****************************************************************
QUESTION: Should we enter a Install path? All we are trying to accomplish is have wordpress open to our home page when someone types in our url “www.agisolutions.xyz”
I have been leaving it blank and it installs wordpress UNDER public_html
    *****************************************************************

    Hello,

The .qidb folder should be related to a Berkeley DB unrelated to WordPress, I would back it up first, deleting it shouldn’t impact your WordPress install.

You should leave the install field blank and it will install under the top level public_html. This will ensure your site is accessible from the main domain.
