WordPress forums integration?

Hi all:

On our website, we’re currently using a custom-built CMS, but we’re considering our options as we’d like to move to a simpler solution. As our forums use vBulletin, we purchased 4.0 Suite in order to give it a test run, and regretted it not long after. We’re leaning towards WordPress as it seems easier to deal with and is better supported.

I have seen mods floating around for vBulletin 3.x (old version) to integrate it with WordPress, but nothing supports the latest vBulletin 4.0. My question is… is there other forum software out there that tends to integrate nicely with WordPress? We’re looking for a solution that essentially makes our forum user accounts work with WordPress, so users could post on WordPress using the same account they use to post on the forums.

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

You can do that with bbPress and/or BuddyPress.

I use SimplePress, but I heard Mingle has a nice forum too.
